Experimental area „Business Processes“
The experimental area 5 “Business Processes” focuses on the identification, analysis and evaluation of business processes and business models of the involved actors in the field of partially automated cattle farming (e.g. farmers, sensor manufacturers).
The value creation in agriculture differs from other economic sectors. The same applies to digitization, which is also differently organized in the agricultural sector compared to other sectors such as the automotive industry. Therefore, there is a specific need for the identification, analysis and evaluation of business processes and business models in agriculture, especially in partially automated cattle farming.
Several supporting information technologies for cattle farming, which are supposed to open up the emerging potential of digitization, already exist. These are researched in the experimental areas of the CattleHub project. However, it must be ensured that the use of digitization in cattle farming is economically advantageous, but also ecologically and socially viable. That’s why the changing business processes and business models in the field of partially automated cattle farming are examined in the experimental area 5.
Farmers (with their cattle) belong to a network which, among other things, consists of veterinarians, industrial companies, dairies and energy companies. These and other actors such as sensor manufacturers must be included in the consideration of the business models and business processes in order to enable an overarching analysis with regard to the financial impact, but also the issues of environmental protection as well as work management standards and animal welfare, and to purposefully identify and implement promising business models.
